Project Description
Direction Home, an Akron-based non-profit has provided Northeast Ohio with services catering to the elderly and those with disabilities for over 40 years. The organization serves thousands of people, covering Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne Counties. Headquartered in Green, Ohio, Direction Home wanted to stay in the neighborhood their clients were familiar with while also expanding their operations. With the help of HSB, their new facility has become their upgraded “home base” for their services. The 32,000 SF, two-story building was constructed from the ground up and caters specifically to the functions and flows of Direction Home. Apart from ample office spaces and workstations, the building is fitted with numerous breakout huddle areas and conference rooms for the teams to use for smaller collaboration. For larger gatherings, the first floor houses The Joseph L. Ruby Conference Center; a 2,000 SF multi-function space to be utilized by both internal employees and outsiders alike. The interiors of the building are based on the concept of residential-meets-commercial; Providing a comfortable space that will get employees back in the office, and one that reflects the notion of “home” For decades, Direction Home has helped individuals thrive in the places they reside in. Their new headquarters has brought the company into a modern era while still embracing their long-standing traditions and practices and provides a bright path forward to continue their organization’s mission.
