Massara Plaza

Project Description
HSB was approached to renovate an existing 75,000 square foot shopping center and design a new, 50,000 square foot center on an adjacent parcel. The existing center had received only cosmetic improvements over its 40-year existence. The new center needed to establish a fresh identity for The Plaza, while referencing some of the details and design elements of the existing architecture. A rhythm of steel mesh light "beacons" along with anchor elements T.J. Maxx and Catalano's Stop-n-Shop, united the old and new centers. Replacement of the existing facade and sign band with contrasting materials and details revitalized the storefronts. Some of the existing center's materials and scale were then reinterpreted in elements of the new plaza. The implemented design and new construction revitalized The Plaza for the City of Twinsburg.
